The Salvation Army Thanksgiving Eve dinner set for Wednesday

November 19, 2018--8:21 a.m.

The Salvation Army of Rome is getting ready for Thanksgiving.

This Wednesday, they will host their Annual Thanksgiving Eve Community Dinner.

It is open to anyone in need, according to Captain Jason Smith.

“Everybody is welcome to come out at 6 p.m.,” he said. “We have volunteers signed up to be servers. If anyone else would like to volunteer, they can contact our office. This is a great event where we feed about 150 people. Of course, the next day we provide Thanksgiving again. We take whatever is left over and add to it for Thanksgiving dinner for our shelter guests and for those who come in that day as well.”

If you would like to volunteer to serve or make a monetary donation to offset the cost of the event, you can call (706) 291-4745.

Donations are tax deductible.

Last year, volunteers served more than 125 of our neighbors in need.
